Can Parrots Eat Peanut Butter Cereal
Now that weve discussed a few of the most popular cereal brands, lets go over a couple of broad areas of cereal.
For starters, peanut butter cereal is a massive market in the cereal world.
People love peanut butter and peanut butter flavored food.
With this at hand, it makes sense why so many cereals implement peanut butter flavors.
Although parrots can eat peanut butter in small doses, its not a good idea for them to eat peanut butter-flavored cereal.
Similar to the issues with lucky charms, cornflakes, and honey nut cheerios, sugar isnt suitable for a parrot.
Plus, with the idea of peanut butter, although parrots can eat it in tiny amounts, its not a good idea.
For the most part, peanut butter contains a carcinogenic substance known as aflatoxin thats harmful to parrots.
Basically, even though theyll be okay if they eat a little bit of it, its not the best idea.
Think of it like this imagine youre allergic to Gatorade but drink it every day instead.
Even though you wont die, itll eventually play a massive negative consequence on you.
Plus, with parrots, their bodies are significantly different than ours and way more sensitive.
Can Parrots Eat Chocolate Cereal
Other than peanut butter flavored cereal, chocolate cereal is a massive market in the world of cereal.
Similar to dogs, chocolate can be extremely poisonous to parrots.
As a result, foods like chocolate cereal are incredibly dangerous for parrots to be around.
In fact, even the smallest amounts of chocolate can be devastating for a parrot to have.
On the other hand, chocolate cereal typically has a massive amount of sugar in it, which makes it a double-negative for a parrot to consume.
Peanut Allergies A Concern With Cheerios New Cereal Flavor
Personally, I love the flavor of peanut butter and I am blessed not to have peanut allergies in my family. But, I do have a young friend in Cloquet named Sydney, who has food allergies, so I immediately passed this info, about Multi-grain Peanut Butter Flavored Cheerios, to her mom, Jennifer.
The fear is cross-contact while processing. General Mills say they have confidence in no cross-contamination. Still, if you have anyone close to you, or you yourself suffer with food allergies, this is important for you to know.Amy Graff from the San Fransisco Chronicles reports:

Are There Nuts In Honey Nut Cheerios
You can see in the ingredients above that almonds is in Honey Nut Cheerios. As we indicated in a previous article titled Do Almonds Grow on Trees?, almond trees produce a fruit called a drupe that contains the almond. The almond is considered a seed and not a nut. If you want to get technical about what is in Honey Nut Cheerios, nuts are not an ingredient based on the above ingredients.
Now, lets assume that Honey Nut Cheerios does have nuts based on the ingredient natural almond flavor. For argument sake here, we are assuming almonds are a nut. Well, while the word almond is in natural almond flavor, it does not have to contain almonds to be called this. As the Consumerist points out,Most natural almond flavor comes from the pits of peaches and apricots.
Keep in mind that almonds, apricots, and peaches are closely related and their seeds take on a similar taste when prepared into natural almond flavor. Additionally, you can see from the picture below how similar the almond shell is to the peach pit.
When you look at the ingredients of Honey Nut Cheerios you will notice the verbiage contains almond ingredients. This is potentially due to the fact that peaches and apricots can cause a similar allergic reaction to almonds.
Hi! There are no actual almond nuts or nut pieces in Honey Nut Cheerios but the product contains Natural Almond flavor. Thanks for getting in touch!

Where Are The Nuts In Honey Nut Cheerios
When I was doing research for The Unhealthiest Cereals on the Planet, one thing caught my eye: General Mills’ isn’t the only company who makes a “Honey Nut”-flavored cereal. There are almost a dozen other cereals that season their grains with this dynamic duo of flavors. And while each cereal differs in their appearance and exact recipe, there is one thing that is glaringly missing from each: nuts!
Do you see any nuts on those cereal boxes? Neither do we. So, why are all of these cereal flavors called Honey Nut? What’s the deal here?
The secret lies in the ingredients. Upon closer inspection of the Nutrition Facts panel, we found our answer: “Natural Almond Flavor.” So, yes, there are no whole nuts in these cerealsbut were there ever?
This current recipe is, in fact, a change from the original 1979 formulation. The first recipe did contain real ground almonds until 2006, but the nuts were then replaced with the “natural almond flavor” you see today.
We initially guessed the company probably ditched the real almonds to accommodate those with nut allergies, but Honey Nut Cheerios boxes still bear a warning to consumers that they “Contain Almond Ingredients.” So, maybe they just switched to almond flavor to cut costs.

Can Sick Cats Have Honey
Most pets who are sick dont feel like eating. If you have a cat that is sick, not eating or drinking, or is exhibiting other issues, contact your veterinarian right away to rule out any serious medical conditions. If your kitty does not have any underlying medical conditions and has been cleared by your veterinarian to have honey, then make sure that you offer no more than 1/2 teaspoon at a time, preferable only once per day. Felines are natural carnivores and are drawn to foods that contain animal protein and fats. Chances are a sick feline will not opt for it, but it does depend on the cat. It is recommended to consult your veterinarian first before offering anything to a sick pet.

Can Parrots Eat Lucky Charms
As far as cereal is concerned, is there a cereal brand that doesnt have a better sense of packaging and marketing attached to it?
Nonetheless, youre probably wondering if your parrot can eat lucky charms.
Similar to cornflakes, lucky charms should only be given to them occasionally as a treat.
Since parrots and birds generally have a difficult time processing refined sugar, its never the best idea to feed them an abundance of these kinds of foods.
However, if youre smart about it, and only give them a tiny bit, its possible.
I understand where youre coming from.
You want to give your parrot as best of a life as possible, and giving them tasteful food is a great way to do that.
However, you need to realize some food can be devastating for them to eat.
Since lucky charms have such a high sugar content, its best if you avoid.
However, for the most part, you can find a decent cereal brand thats safe for them to eat like plain cheerios.
On the other hand, if you insist, an occasional minuscule treat of lucky charms wont be a big deal for them to eat.
The Ambiguous Natural Almond Flavor
It was in 2006 when General Mills announced the huge news that they were ditching the ground almonds that were in the original recipe. Going down Honey Nut Cheerios’ ingredient list today, you will discover “natural almond flavor” surprisingly hidden far down on the list. A much more obvious line below says, in all caps, “CONTAINS ALMOND INGREDIENTS.” Yep, I just found out why I shouldn’t eat Honey Nut Cheerios .
This also means that General Mills did not do this out of kindness or hope that people who are allergic to almonds will be able to enjoy this delicious cereal. You guessed right, they probably did it to cut costs.
