Your Stressful Life Is Causing Clogged Pores

Alergic to PPD in Black Hair Dye??? Skin break out…try this

Stress causes acne, and acne results in more stressah, the very vicious cycle. When youre under pressure, your skin produces stress hormones, including cortisol, that can stimulate your oil glands to make testosterone, Dr. Downie explains. This then increases your oil production, clogs your pores, and could lead to blind pimples.

The zit fix:

Work out regularly, meditate, get that essential oil diffuser going, and take time out of your busy schedule to focus on yourself, whatever that means to you. All these things will help you release stress so your body doesnt continue to release hormones that are trying to wreak havoc on your skin.

    My Arduous Journey With Acne

You know how everyone in high school gets pimples? Well, I didnt except for one or two around my period. I led an acne free life, and yes, I took that for granted! All of a sudden at the end of 2011, at age 24, I started getting acne all over my face.

I thought acne was just for kids, not women in their 20s!

It started out as a cluster of normal-sized pimples on my forehead. I finally knew what pizza face meant, and as much as I loved pizza, Id rather be eating it than it hanging around my forehead. After a few months, the pimples on my forehead started making moves.

No they didnt go away. They just decided to spread around my whole face because the forehead wasnt prime real estate enough for them or something.

They moved down to my cheeks and chin, and this time, they werent just normal-sized pimples. They were HUGE and deep. The pain was awful too. I couldnt believe that something so relatively tiny to the rest of my body could cause a lot of pain. Even when I wasnt touching them, my face felt bruised.

As you could imagine, I was devastated. This no-makeup natural woman started to wear makeup, but you know how it goes, make-up or not, I was self-conscious. Plus at the end of 2014, I got engaged, and in 2015, I had my wedding to look fab for! Great timing, right?

Anyways, after much trial and error and learning a lot more about my body than I ever thought I would, my acne finally went away in the beginning of 2017.

    Why Does Acne Develop

While theres still debate on the definitive cause of acne, academics agree that genetics is the primary cause in the vast majority of cases. A good rule of thumb is, if either of your parents had acne, youll probably develop it throughout puberty as well. The determining factor, on a genetic level, is how your skin and sebaceous glands are structured. If these glands dont function quite the way they should do, it can cause a predisposition to acne.

Hormones can alsoplay a large role, which is why pimples are so common throughout adolescence. Its suspected that hormones like testosterone and cortisol can cause the glandsto produce significantly larger amounts of sebum, triggering acne. Stress isalso a potential cause, as our body produces more hormones when were stressedor aggravated.

The foods we eat also play a significant role in generalskin health. Treating And Preventing Eczema Flare

Once youve pinpointed the allergens you can begin to treat your allergies. One common treatment is a course of allergy shots. However, Im not a huge fan of allergy shots, as they require you to visit the doctor week after week and wait to make sure theres no adverse reaction. It is extremely inconvenient and a nightmare for people who hate needles and injections.

Instead, Ive experienced great success treating individuals with sublingual immunotherapy drops. These drops are placed under the tongue . Each drop contains small amounts of allergens based on what you need for example, the drops prepared for you could contain various grass and tree pollens. When you take the drop, the body creates antibodies to those allergens, building up the immune response naturally so when you encounter them in the future, your body can block the allergens.

Sublingual immunotherapy drops are common in Europe and are becoming more widely known here in the U.S. They can be used to treat more than just seasonal allergies. They can also address allergies to dust mites, pet dander and certain foods. If you suffer from these allergies, then consider a course of sublingual immunotherapy drops.

Theyre natural, effective and convenient since you take them at home. No weekly doctors visits, no waiting!

    Staph Infections Can Mimic Acne

Staph infections are caused by staphylococcus bacteria. These germs are usually harmless and normally found on the skin of healthy people, but can cause infection if they find their way into open cuts or scratches.

Dr. Soni told Insider that staph infections often cause pimple-like boils, bumps, and redness that can be easily mistaken for acne. Unlike normal pimples, staph infections can process to pus-filled blisters or large patches of irritated skin.

Though most staph infections are minor and will clear up on their own, some can lead to life-threatening conditions such as septicemia or an infection of the inner lining of the heart. If you suspect you have a staph infection or have a skin lesion that isn’t getting better, head to your doctor for a diagnosis.

Periorificial dermatitis is a skin condition that causes clusters of small, itchy, and sometimes sore red bumps on the face. When the condition affects the lower half of the face, it may be known by the more specific term of perioral dermatitis.

Normally, periorificial dermatitis will go away once you stop using topical steroids or the irritating product. Sometimes dermatologists will also prescribe an oral antibiotic, such as tetracycline, or a topical antibiotic, like metronidazole.

Your Diet Might Be The Cause Of Your Skin Rash

Theres a growing awareness that the food you eat affects every part of your health. If you have a food allergy, you may be prone to skin rashes. Research studies found that your diet can set off eczema. Eczema is a word used to describe a group of skin conditions that cause inflammation, itchiness, red, dry, or bumpiness of your skin.

Most of the time, eczema refers to a condition called atopic dermatitis. If you eat food youre allergic to your body goes into overdrive. Your immune systems overreaction releases mast cell chemicals that cause a hypersensitive reaction like histamines.

A reaction can happen minutes or hours after eating the food. Some delayed reactions occur as long as a couple of days later.

Be Patient For One Skin Cycle Or About 28 Days

Think of purging as the terrible twos of skin care: Your skin may be throwing temper tantrums left and right, but its only a phase .

Since purging occurs when an ingredient attempts to speed up the skins natural pace of shedding and renewal, it should only take one full skin cycle to get through the worst of it.

Everyones skin is unique, so that time frame can differ from person to person. Generally speaking, dermatologists say purging should be over within four to six weeks of starting a new skin care regimen.

If your purge lasts longer than six weeks, consult your dermatologist. It could be that you need to adjust the dosage and/or frequency of application.

Your Face Scrub Is Making Your Breakouts Worse

Not regularly exfoliating is one of the acne causes, yes, but if youre of the mindset that the more you scrub your skinwhether with a washcloth, rough acne face washes and face scrubs, loofahs, or cleansing brushesthe smoother it will be, Im here to tell you that your breakouts are only gonna get worse. The idea here is to repair your skins protective barrier to keep bacteria out, not cause further trauma by scrubbing the sh*t out of it.

    The zit fix:

Wash and exfoliate your face with a mild yet effective formula that contains chemical exfoliators and dont require scrubbing, like lactic and glycolic acids.

Youre Drying Out Your Skin While Sunbathing

By now, you know that baking in the sun and in tanning beds causes skin cancer, but if that still hasnt stopped you from hitting the beach without sunscreen, maybe this will: Contrary to popular belief, the sun isnt healing your acne, its actually making it worse. On top of all the other damage, the sun dries out your skin and triggers excess oil production, which, hi, is one of the acne causes.

    The zit fix:

For starters, stop going to tanning beds. Period. And if you are in the sun, make sure to slather on a titanium dioxide- or zinc-based sunscreen, and wear a hat to shield your face from harsh rays.

    Hair Test For Food Intolerances

Before I tell you about this testing, I want you to know that this is not accepted by Western medicine. It is more of a pseudo-science type testing, and I used it more as a guideline instead of a 100% factual report.

This is because I got four FULL pages of foods and chemicals that it said Im intolerant to. If I cut out every single one of those items, I would go crazy and being so restrictive could actually make me more sick, mentally and physically. Take what this test tells you with a grain of salt.

Also, this testing is for intolerances, which can also impact your immune system and gut, but intolerances are not the same thing as allergies.

A true food allergy causes an immune system reaction that affects numerous organs in the body. It can cause a range of symptoms. In some cases, an allergic food reaction can be severe or life-threatening. In contrast, food intolerance symptoms are generally less serious and often limited to digestive problems.

From my experience and limited knowledge, intolerances can go away!

Some Types Of Skin Cancer Can Look Like Pimples

6 Best ways to cure your Pit bull’s skin allergies at home!

One of the most alarming types of acne-mimickers is a type of skin cancer called basal cell carcinoma.

“Basal cell carcinoma is the most common skin cancer and is often mistaken for a pimple. Pimples usually resolve over days to weeks. If instead, it lasts several months, you should see a board-certified dermatologist as it might need to be biopsied to rule out skin cancer,” Dr. Downes told Insider.

The good news is that basal cell carcinoma is considered a low-risk skin cancer. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, it is only life-threatening in exceedingly rare cases.

“The risk of it spreading in the body is close to zero. It is just locally destructive to adjacent tissues,” explained Dr. Downes.

The typical treatment involves surgically removing the affected area. Even though basal cell carcinoma isn’t usually an aggressive type of cancer, it can result in scarring if left untreated for too long. Get any suspicious marks or bumps checked sooner rather than later to catch skin cancer early.

Your Diet Could Be Causing Acne Breakouts

According to Dr. Downie, tomatoes and peppers, two common ingredients in spicy foods, contain acidic lycopenea somewhat common irritant that can throw off the skins pH levels and trigger breakouts around the mouth. But it isnt just spicy foods that are acne causes. Some people have a reaction to dairy, gluten, or other types of foods. How diet affects the skin is totally dependent on the person.

    The zit fix:

Talk to your dermatologist or make an appointment with a gastroenterologist to see if the food youre eating is the source of your problem or if something more serious is going on in your gastrointestinal tract. And while youre at it, you could always try incorporating a few healthy foods for clear skin into your diet.

    How Antihistamines Work:

Lets start with what antihistamines do. They are used to counteract the effects of histamine, a common chemical messenger in our body, by competing with it for binding sites in the body, explains William Reisacher, director of allergy services at Weill Cornell Medicine and New York-Presbyterian. While histamine performs many important functions, it can also lead to allergic symptoms like sneezing, itching, and runny nose.

Histamines dont just make your nose, throat, and eyes freak out all spring long, though. They can affect your skin, too. There are histamine receptors on cells of the skin that stimulate them to release sebum, or oil, onto the skin, says Reisacher. More specifically, sebocytes, which are the cells that produce sebum or skin oils, have a histamine H-1 receptor on their surface, says Lily Talakoub, a board-certified dermatologist at the McLean Dermatology and Skincare Center in Virginia. So when you take antihistamines, this receptor is blocked. As a result, the production of sebum is reduced, and skin can become less oily than usual.
